4-28-23 THOUGHTS
After establishing that we are saved by Grace and not Works, Paul continues in Eph 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Our thought thread this morning is that we are designed for good works but saved by God’s grace. Selfless, humble servants of Christ, involve themselves in righteous living and service that are “wrought in God”. 1Cor 3:9 says “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.” We work together, we are GOD’S FELLOW WORKERS! God works in us, He perfects our efforts, and He will “equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight,” Heb 13:21. With God as our helper, may we “practice the truth come to the Light.” May the obedience of Christ, power our willingness to be good children.
Php2:3-13 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
John 3:21 "But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."
Php 1:6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
My Prayer:
Lord, work in us continually for Your good pleasure. Help us to work together in blessed fellowship and abounding love. Help us to look for, and be perceptive in finding souls who need You. Help us to serve needs and teach Jesus. To You, O God, be the glory always. In Jesus name, Amen.
